Independence Day: Police fire teargas at protesters in Abuja [VIDEO]

On Tuesday, officers of the Nigeria Police Force used teargas to disperse young Nigerians protesting against the rising cost of living. According to PARALLEL NEWS TV, the demonstrators had gathered around the Berger roundabout around 7 am and were marching toward Eagles Square.

To break up the protest, the police turned to forceful measures. The protesters demanded urgent action from President Bola Tinubu’s administration to tackle hunger and other economic challenges in the country.

In his Independence Day address, Tinubu reassured Nigerians that his administration was working on various initiatives to alleviate the high cost of living.
