Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has dismissed as “mischievous” the nickname recently coined for the president amidst the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
PARALLEL NEWS TV reports that amid widespread frustration over worsening economic conditions, some Nigerians have taken to referring to President Tinubu as “T-Pain.” This nickname, they claim, reflects the hardship allegedly caused by his policies, which they see as unfavourable and burdensome.
In a recent interview with Channels TV, Onanuga addressed these sentiments, emphasizing that President Tinubu’s goal is not to impose hardship but to “rebuild and repair” the economy. According to Onanuga, the president is fully aware of the difficulties citizens are currently facing but was reportedly unaware of the social media label, as Tinubu “does not read what is on social media.”

Onanuga went on to note that social media reactions often give rise to both negative and supportive voices, stating, “Some people have also responded with other names for the president. For me, it’s not a serious matter. Certain individuals have, perhaps out of mischief, labelled him T-Pain. He is not T-Pain,” he affirmed.
