Social media critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has accused Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), of allegedly having control over Nigeria’s judiciary.
VeryDarkMan made this claim while reacting to the demolition of a building reportedly located near Wike’s residence in the Asokoro area of Abuja.
In a post on his Instagram page, he shared an appeal from one of the affected individuals, who alleged that their land was being taken away unfairly after they had spent ten years developing it.
According to VeryDarkMan, the location of the property, allegedly right opposite Wike’s house, raised suspicions. He expressed his frustration, saying: “May God save us from this kind of wickedness. It is sad that people now run to social media for help instead of trusting the courts because they believe the judiciary is compromised. Allegedly, people like Wike and his allies have bought over the system.”
He went on to question the process of the demolition: “How can such an act be carried out without proper notice? Did anyone even think about the security risks? Nyesom Wike, what is the meaning of all this?”
VeryDarkMan also alleged that Wike has been accused of using his influence to buy land and properties for judges, giving him undue control over the judiciary. He noted that those affected are too disillusioned to seek justice in court, as they believe nothing will be done.
The critic concluded by highlighting the growing mistrust in Nigeria’s justice system, saying it’s painful that people no longer see the courts as a place to get fairness. Instead, they turn to social media for help because of the alleged manipulation by powerful individuals like Wike.
