My attention has been drawn to some misleading reports suggesting that I claimed electricity has been fully restored to the entire Bekwarra Local Government Area after 15 years of blackout. I wish to set the records straight.
A week ago, I was visited by some aides of the Governor, who informed me that efforts to restore electricity to all the communities in Bekwarra had commenced. During our discussion, I expressed my appreciation to His Excellency for keeping to his campaign promise of addressing the electricity challenge in our community. I acknowledged the steps being taken to ensure that after 15 long years of darkness, light is about to be restored to Bekwarra.
At no point did I affirm that electricity has been restored to all the wards in Bekwarra. My remarks were made in recognition of the ongoing efforts by the government to bring this long-standing issue to an end.
I also commended the Governor for ensuring that his administration is truly a people-first government. In just about a year and six months, this administration has made significant progress in addressing electricity, which has been a serious challenge to the people of Bekwarra for over a decade.
I urge everyone to disregard any claims suggesting otherwise and to focus on supporting the government’s initiatives aimed at resolving this problem completely. As Ada Bekwarra II, I remain committed to advocating for the welfare and progress of our people.
Signed,
Chief Signor Omang Idiege
Ada Bekwarra II
