President Bola Tinubu has directed the military to eliminate banditry and tackle insecurity across Nigeria by the end of 2025. This directive was revealed by the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, in a widely circulated video.
In response to Tinubu’s mandate, Badaru emphasized that the military would intensify its operations against bandits and other criminal elements. He assured the public that security forces would not relent until the menace of banditry was completely eradicated.
According to Badaru, criminal groups are already on the run due to the military’s sustained offensive. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that insecurity is brought to an end within the stipulated timeframe.
“The bandits are fleeing, but we will not rest until we put an end to this crisis. The president has given us clear instructions to eliminate insecurity in all parts of the country by the end of this year,” Badaru stated.
He further highlighted the dedication of the Chief of Defence Staff and the National Security Adviser, noting that both officials are working tirelessly to achieve the set objective. According to him, military operations are being intensified across all conflict zones to suppress criminal activities.
Badaru also pointed out that mining activities in Zamfara State have resumed following security improvements in the region. He explained that part of the government’s ongoing efforts includes strategic meetings aimed at assessing security challenges and implementing measures to safeguard vulnerable areas.
The minister’s remarks reflect the administration’s determination to restore peace and stability nationwide. With increased military action and coordinated efforts across security agencies, the government aims to put an end to the persistent threat of banditry and insecurity.
