Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Bible Church, has clarified that his first aircraft was a gift from God, not something purchased with church funds.
While delivering a sermon at the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State, he addressed speculations suggesting that church offerings were used to acquire the aircraft. He firmly dismissed these claims, emphasizing that the plane was provided by divine intervention without any prior planning or prayers on his part.
Bishop Oyedepo explained that he never asked for or expected an aircraft, but God made it happen in a way that required no financial pressure on him or the church. He stated, “The first aircraft came without prayer, without even knowing it was coming. God provided it, and there was no pressure on anyone’s life or on church offerings.”
He further stressed that no individual was involved in making the purchase happen. “Was there any person contacted under heaven? No! God spoke, I believed, and that was enough.”
According to him, acquiring an aircraft was never something he personally aspired to, but rather a part of God’s divine plan. If given the choice, he said he would have told God to wait because he wasn’t ready. He even admitted that he hadn’t taken the time to research the cost of an aircraft before receiving one.
The bishop highlighted that the aircraft wasn’t meant for short domestic trips but was used for extensive travel across Africa. “This was not a plane to go from here to Ilorin or Ogbomosho; we traveled across the entire continent with it,” he noted.
Bishop Oyedepo credited God entirely for the provision of the aircraft, insisting that it was not a product of human effort or financial contributions from his church.
