For over 20 years, the Edim Otop Road in Calabar was in terrible condition, full of potholes, flooded during the rainy season, and nearly impossible to drive through.
But under the leadership of Governor Bassey Otu, that has finally changed.
In line with his “People First” agenda, the Governor ordered the complete reconstruction of the 2km road.
Today, the road is fully tarred, smooth, and open to traffic.
What used to take over 20 minutes now takes less than four minutes to drive.
The newly completed road is not just helping people in the Edim Otop area, it also serves as an alternative route to IBB Avenue, helping reduce traffic on one of Calabar’s busiest roads.
Drivers, traders, and residents have praised the Governor for acting quickly and listening to their needs.
One commercial driver said, “We are happy.
This road has made our daily work easier.”
This is the first time in the history of Cross River State that a long-abandoned road has been completed in such a short time.
It shows the political stability and inclusive leadership that Governor Otu has brought to the state.
The Edim Otop Road project is more than just a road, it’s a sign of progress and proof that real development is happening in Calabar under Governor Otu.
