Gender and Development Action has launched a groundbreaking training program for Customary Court Presidents and Members of the Traditional Rulers’ Advisory Committee to tackle the scourge of gender based violence in Cross River State. The program, which spans across 3 senatorial districts, aims to equip these key stakeholders with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively address GBV in their localities.
The training program, which covers Ogoja, Obudu, Ikom, Yakurr, Akamkpa, Odukpani, and Akpabuyo, is designed to foster collaboration between customary court presidents and traditional rulers in combating GBV By empowering these leaders with the necessary knowledge and expertise, GADA hopes to bridge the gap between traditional justice systems and modern approaches to addressing GBV.
We believe that customary court presidents and traditional rulers play a critical role in shaping community attitudes and behaviours towards GBV. By equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills, we can ensure that they are effective in addressing GBV in their localities.
