The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made clear that its presidential nomination for the 2027 election remains open to all party members, even as President Bola Tinubu receives widespread backing from party organs.
At a news briefing in Abuja, National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu emphasised that while the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), state chapters, and leaders across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones have endorsed Tinubu, the nomination process remains inclusive. “We will not shut the door on anyone,” he said, adding that aspiring candidates will still have the chance to purchase nomination forms when the official schedule is announced.
Argungu also took a jab at past practices within the opposition, noting that unlike the PDP in 2014 which allegedly issued a single nomination form for Goodluck Jonathan, APC practices internal democracy by allowing all members to compete fairly.
He further assured the party remains committed to adhering to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) timeline and the Electoral Act, reinforcing its pledge to conduct a transparent and fair primary process.
