Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the Southeast Governors’ Forum Chairman, has clarified that the governors in the Southeast have not abandoned Nnamdi Kanu. In a public statement, he said that though the issue is sensitive, the governors remain committed to ensuring justice and fairness in the matter.
Otti made it clear that the governors are working behind the scenes to pursue the interests of the people and to ensure that due process is respected. He insisted that their support does not mean they will override legal procedures, but rather that they will use whatever lawful avenues are available to see that Kanu’s rights are upheld.
He reminded the public that governance is more than public declarations. Much of the governors’ work happens in the corridors of power, engaging key stakeholders, negotiating legal avenues, and influencing decisions quietly. He urged people not to judge their commitment merely by what is visible.
Otti also appealed to citizens to maintain faith and patience, assuring them that the governors are doing everything possible. He acknowledged that the path is rough and that there will be delays, but that does not mean their efforts have stopped or their purpose has changed.
