The ECOWAS Commission welcomes Dr. Kalilou Sylla, it’s new Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture

This Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria, Ivorian, Dr. Kalilou SYLLA took office at the ECOWAS Commission, as Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture after being sworn in during a formal ceremony presided over by the President of the Community Court of Justice, The Honorable Judge Ricardo Cláudio Monteiro Gonçalves in the presence of the members of the Council of Ministers of the ECOWAS gathered in an extraordinary session that day.

M. SYLLA, who succeeds Madame Massandje Touré-Litsé, whose term ends in July 2026, is a Doctor of Economics, and has held several positions of responsibility in his country, the last of which was the position of Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Trade and Industry. His Competencies cover the areas of Economic and Monetary Policy, Integration Programs and Projects, Strategic Planning, Management of Agricultural Policy and Development Projects, Marketing and Analysis of Agricultural Value Chains, Coordination of Research and Economic Analysis.

Dr. Kalilou SYLLA also specializes in financing projects in the fields of agriculture, industry, public and private trade and civil society at both national and regional levels. In addition, he is competent on economic integration and governance issues with scientific publications on regional integration, economy and agriculture
